the fabulous Kate heywood completed the virgin london marathon running for okmt – and you can still support her!
So it may have been the hottest marathon on record and she may have been a novice runner BUT… she did it!!!! The remarkable Kate Heywood completed her first marathon in just over 6 hours! We couldn’t be prouder or more grateful to Kate! Kate is far from being an elite runner, so taking on the gruelling 26.2 mile distance on 22nd April was a huge challenge for Kate.
Staff of OKMT were so happy to meet up with Kate and her family at the Turk’s Head afterwards and she looked remarkably well after her efforts. Her children and their friends carried on collecting for OKMT even in the pub! We couldn’t have asked for more from Kate.
We are delighted to say that Kate made her fundraising target of £2,500 to help fund our OK Youth Choir – but her funding page is still open and and further donations will go towards our Music School for children and young people with additional needs. So please do still donate to recognise Kate’s achievement and help even more children.
Kate has kept a diary to give our supporters an insight into her journey from ‘coach potato’ to ‘a proper runner’. CLICK HERE to follow Kate’s journey and please do visit her fundraising page to pledge your support!
