“Our clients, families and carers tell us how beautiful and therapeutic they find the Music Studio and the garden where it is set, giving them a place they can relax, meet others, share experiences and knowledge which can help their child or family member. They have made friends and now share activities for themselves or their children and tell us they no longer feel isolated, but part of a ‘large family’. Several have become volunteers helping us at concerts and fundraising events.”
Lulu did not like to leave her home for nearly 40 years as she was frightened to do so. Now she comes to OKMT every week to sing with our therapist Carmem Coles and music has given her back her confidence.
She is pictured here with Carmem at our Music Studio.
R can be anxious and keeps his fingers inside both his ears all the time and makes little eye contact normally. But he engages during his music therapy sessions when he plays an instrument and his mother is very impressed at how music therapy is helping her son.
Stephanie has been having music therapy with our therapist Carmen and was extremely proud to have performed for Prince Philip at the official opening of the new art, drama and dance facilities at Richmond Adult Community College, and of her thank you letter. She also took part with a group from OKMT in the Hampton Court Palace Sing 500 celebrations with the English Touring Opera.
